iPhone Software Update

I have a 2G iphone which i got when they were first released in the UK last Christmas.When i activated the phone everything was fine,but since they released the main software update,the main one in the summer,which included new home screen applications etc After i synced with my Mac, everything has become very slow and delayed.Like slow-motion.The most annoying thing is my clock is in 24 hour mode.I carn't turn it to 12 hour.The option is grayed out!!!
Anybody had similar problems?

connect your iphone to a computer with itunes installed and access to the internet. When the iphone is connected go to check for update and download and install the 2.1 software update, It will fix a lot of your issues.
