Powerpoint mac to pc

I have a powerpoint file that has graphics inputted from file that contains tiffs, these tifs basically don't have a background, I deleted them of, so that they look see through, I don't want that white back ground on them.

on my mac, the powerpoint file looks great, neat and tidy, on a pc at work the images retain the white background that I deleted from the image in photoshop.

is there a way of retaining the image layers?

I have tried converting to other file formats, again it looks great.

Windows pc uses office 97,

I use windows v.10 for mac. would this make a difference?

yeah if your Powerpoint software from work hasn't been updated since Office 97 and your using a new version. Some capabilites and features aren't going to be available in older versions of the program

have you tried creating the images as a transparent GIF? the background will be invisible and the image quality will be good as the images are lossless (don't lose data). it works great for logos, and graphics but makes for enormous files if they are photographic images.

microsoft office powerpoint doesn't really support transparency, clipping paths or channels from photoshop. microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, chooses to use their own colour palette not based on standards like RGB or CMYK.

have you tried keynote from apple. if you do the presentation you can export it as powerpoint or a PDF file. works great on the mac, the powerpoint still has the same issues on a PC.

I designed a presentation for a bizman working on PC. I had a similar transparency issues, so I used PNG format (24bit full color with transparency). But I'm not sure if your old PowerPoint works with PNG.

true. gifs are limited to 256 colors.

you could try a transparent PNG file.

correct, GIF files only use the websafe colour palette or 256 colours, and gradients do not represent well. but if it's like most powerpoint presentations and just uses graphics GIFs will be fine. PNG files are also lossless but i don't think powerpoint supports PNG - worth a try.
