Hello everyone. I want to start this thread in order to see how many of us are in a relationship. So First: Vote. Choose what resembles to you the most. Second: Tell us your age and sex. And last but not least(if applies): How much time have you been together. So I'll start:

18/Male

2 year's 8 month's and counting. :)

Edit: I'll explain the Poll options.

Yes: Means that you are single but you have been in a relationship before.
No: Means that you currently are in a relationship(That includes marriage Skunk)
Never been in a relationship: Means that you have never been in a relationship.
Will never be in a relationship: Means that you don't want to be in a relationship throughout your life.

Edit #2: If your comfortable to put your sexuality - GO AHEAD!

The poll options are a little weird. I hesitate to classify myself from that list.

Male, 55, married 31 years, happily so.

Do you mind helping me out with the poll options?Well, "I love to be in love" is a little strange: you can get treatment for that. Besides, there is no option for those that have loved and lost.

15 and 10 months. Male.

I'm pretty much screwed so far though, I've asked three girls out in the past year, and the first avoided me for a long while (and no longer even talks to me), the second claimed to like me "that way" until I asked her out, and then the third I asked last Monday and still haven't received a response. I don't know her all that well though.

Well... I'll just do an upgrade of my earlier post.

Male/Single/16/Bi

Loved and lost many times.

A little over a year ago... I was like best friends with this girl and she actually told me that she liked me BEFORE I got a chance to tell her how I felt.
Once I asked her out all hell broke loose.
She's been a bitch to me ever since.
After that I started going out with this one really cute girl, come to find out after I have sex with her that she was really slutty and got around a little too much.
There was this one guys who liked me but he was kind of a man whore.
And most recently (last Wednesday) I asked out this girl who I thought was going to say yes but said we didn't know each other "well enough."

PS - I think it would be kinda cool if everyone also put their sexuality.

I think that either he is hiding his bad looks in the darkness of his room or he doesn't turn on lights because he wants to save some money since his $27,000+ Mac Pro is taking up enough electricity as it is.

This is me. 17, single, not really looking unless your green with dead presidents on you(not the girl, the dollar, lol). Some users have speculated my looks, you may now decide.

This is the most honest I've been here :), besides "My Sis" thread lol.

I may not be the best looking but it's gotten me places :)(thanks mom and dad :) ).

taken at 11:37 tonight with isight, untouched or messed with at all, very raw and yucky I think. It looks odd because it was taken on my porch and I was trying to make it "artsy". Not like italiano40's taste in photography though right? ;)

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h130/mtsugreg/Photo49.jpg

and my two "friends" that blow mr italiano40 out of the water, and I think I do that already on my own.

Here they are!

This is Diesel(I call him DC). He's my best bud!

I adopted him back in March shortly after, as some/ most of you know, I lost my 13 year old Golden Retriever.

Here he is, like last week, he likes my macbook out by the pool :)

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h130/mtsugreg/Photo48.jpg

And this is Jack. I call him Jacky(when happy a.k.a. he doesn't chew up junk in the yard :) He too was adopted back in March shortly before DC was. But we found them the same day. But apparently Diesel was in very high demand and who ever got there to "bid" on him the next morning first "won" him. I got my way and my dad got to the pound to "bid" on him at like 8 AM.

He's about 2.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h130/mtsugreg/Photo45.jpg

:) there you have it! Me! :p  :D

BTW, Im on the straighter side of the fence.

Dude, there are a lot of upsides to being single.
Take some time and think about it.

I agree. I would be hard pressed to find a girl that I would be willing to give up my independence for and settle down. I like being single (it gets lonely at times) because if I want to buy something, I save up and get it; If I want to go somewhere, I can pretty much drop everything and go; If I want to go on vacation somewhere, I save and go. You know? I really like that aspect of being single and unattached..

Single, got out of a 3.5 year relationship about 4 months ago. We lived together for the last 2 years but kinda drifted apart and lost the "spark". We're still really good friends and still confide in each other.

It's a new experience for me to be single again, haven't been since I was 20.

I'm single currently. Had a girl I should have married and now my life is marred with memories. I'm making my way through different girls to try and find another one, but for some reason I compare them to the last, which I know isn't fair, but I'm pretty screwed up from it. I guess I'm afraid to commit and start all over when I had what I wanted for the rest of my life just a few short months ago.

Single seems the best answer but the last one was tempting. But I suppose that would be inaccurate since I was married once upon a time-- a LONG time ago--and it was a good experience--at least for the few years it lasted. But I am no longer looking for a relationship--not sure if it is just that I am too lazy or just set in my ways--but I'm comfortable with things as they are so I guess that is what matters.

If you are young, definitely take your time. Everybody told me so and I didn't listen, dropped out of college, got married in my early 20s, and she just turned 20, and we got divorced a couple of years later. How long/Did you live together before getting married?

First time, we didn't live together. Second time I got married, at least we knew each other as friends for many months, but still didn't live together.

A longer dating time is a better idea than anything. Sudden marriages, like my first one, is kind of risky, but not always a disaster. We all know exceptions like two 18 year olds who got married via an arranged marriage and stayed married for life. It happens, but probably rarely.

My parents started dating at 16, got married at 21 and are now still happily married at 56. But that's really an exception.

:) Yeah, I know. I don't really worry about not having a boyfriend, I like being single, but my friends worry for me. :D

If they didn't worry, then they wouldn't be friends. Hopefully they'll be really good friends and they'll set you up with some quality guys.....

I think living together is a better judge on if you can last through marriage than dating, my wife and I only dated about 6 months before getting married, but lived together just about that whole time, but I suppose I am one of the exceptions, got married at 18 and our 6th year anniversary is 4/20/09

Not too long ago I got out of a relationship that lasted 5 years with 3 of those being long distance. Tough but I'm ready to move on with someone else.

That sounds like a nice life.
My family is all messed.
My dad is six years older than my mom, who got pregnant with me when she just turned 17.
My parents got divorced shortly after getting married.
I don't talk to my dad at all because he is a screw up.

My family is really messed up too, even though my parents have a happy marriage. It's really hard to get along with my father so when I went to college I chose one out of my hometown just so I wouldn't have to deal with him on a regular basis.

I know it's kind of early in some of the polls, but it seems the majority of MR members are (at least in their own opinions) smart, good looking, single people that are addicted to MR lol, now we just need our own dating section to help hook up the nerd girls and boys (j/k that would be a bad idea)

If it's any consolation, I'm 26 and and single and (moderately) looking. What's that they say about the "gift of singleness"? I think I may be infected with that... Seriously, it would take a very special person to give up my independence for.

I understand that. I posted a few pages back that I recently (6 months ago) got out of a 3.5 year relationship. It was tough as first, but now I'm really enjoying being single. I love the freedom in many ways; time, money, commitments. I personally don't think I want to be single for ever, but I'm definitely enjoying it now. It also helps that my roommate is single and we go "bro-ing" out quite a bit. We definitely are each others wingman.

Oh I don't know. I think you're pretty good looking.

I know what you mean about the single thing though. I'm fine with either being involved or not. I've had some serious long-term relationships, but I'm now single. It works for me right now. I'm sure I'll get bitten pretty soon. It always seems ot happen when you least expect it.

For me it's just the "I want to go to city so I just get up and go" or "I want to go on vacation so I save up and go" type of things. The money issue is neither here nor there. When you're hitched, you've got freedom but there's planning and scheduling for so much stuff. It'll be tough to find someone who is the same as I am in that regard...

And Lee: Thx. :)

Well here is one for you. Over the past 5 years I have tried a couple different relationships but girls seem to not like it when you work say 12-16 hours a day 5-7 days a week. Was never able to really spend anytime with anyone unless I worked with them. I was not about to start dating people at work. For the obvious reasons, but then also because I would not want to talk about work all the time. Saw the folks do it and not so much for me. Although there was this one girl in HR that was rather awesome. Of course the last thing you should do is date your HR rep.

So too much work equaled no time for the ladies.

Now I am unemployed and no one wants some unemployed turd...:(

Also I'm not good with relationships, I tend to date jerks or get crushes on guys who have girlfriends, so I think untill I learn to choose better I'm better off being single... :D

Haha! See, I guess I demand a certain amount of freedom in a relationship, but I sort of know what you mean. I've never been one to give up time with friends because of a guy though. It's basically issues of trust, I guess. It's hard to find people who fit together on that level. Trust means different things to everyone. And the boundaries are always different.

Well, like I said, I can take it or leave it. Both things have their merits/drawbacks. The most important thing is not to be afraid of either situation and look at them from an honest POV. Some people are afraid of relationships and some are afraid to be single. Neither is anything to be afraid of, and I think we get the most out of our relationships when we fear neither.
