What format do you want the sound in and in what format do you currently have the movie? Do you still have the iMovie project?

@Courtaj: I use the iMovie 7.1.4 version. I've just buy my Mac in early of this year and I think it's the new iMovie version.

@slu: I still don't have any iMovie project, just only an event in labrary when I use the camera on my Mac to record a meeting. The movie's format now is mov and I want the mp3 or mp4 sound fie format.

You should be able to output the movie from iMovie as a .mov and open it in Quicktime (Pro), then export audio only (you pick the format) from there. I do this a lot from FCP.
