Hi, I have a early 2004 ibook g4 that I use daily that runs Leopard 10.5.5, and has 1.25 GB ram and the original 30GB hard drive. After about 40 minutes of use the ibook gets very hot right in the center, and to the left of the ibooks bottom case. Im thinking that it is the processor and I also run ATIcellerator II that overclocked the 32mb graphics card by 10% to make leopard smoother. This also got hot in panther and tiger. I worry that the heat could make the graphics chip pop off and cause the famed logic board video problem, which would make the value plummet. thanks

yes, heat can damage components inside your machine. There are usually operation limits for each and if these boundaries are broken the component will fail or simply die sooner than usual. The battery for example is one that gets affected by heat the most.
