Rip DVD into FCP?

Last year I had a friend put all of my video projects onto DVD. Now I'd like to make a back-up of my "master", but I don't want to degrade the quality by using analog capture. Is there a way to rip the DVD onto my HDD, and then import it into FCP?

I don't know, but I'm posting so that this can get on the main page so that maybe someone who will can answer the question. I for one am very interested.

I think I found an answer by doing a search in the forum for (DVD extractor). It's a 3 or 4 step proccess, but I haven't tried it out yet.
