I usually use home button to switch off my iphone I.e. Instead of using the sleep button on top of the phone I use the home button. All of sudden it stopped working I.e. If I click on home button it doesn't put the phone into sleep mode. Does any one know how to fix this

I wasn't aware that you could sleep an iPhone by pressing the home button. I'm pretty dumbfounded by this, so how exactly were you able to sleep your iPhone by using the home button on the bottom as opposed to using the sleep button on the top?

Usually to turn off an iPhone you press and hold the sleep button until it says Slide to turn off or something like that and then you slide the slider and it shuts down.

So this isn't a case of a jailbroken iPhone? He mentioned it 'used' to turn off that way.

Or this is going to be highly embarrassing for said OP. :D

First, take your finger.

Second, move away from the home button.

Third, press the button on top.

Fourth, there you go.

Fifth, well, there is no fifth, I just like the word "fifth".

It looks so weird. :O

Interesting this doesn't work for me. Are you sure? Holding down the home button stops a dead program from running.
