The MBA only uses the equivalent of one stick of RAM's chips soldered to the logic board. Seeing as 4 GB single stick of RAM, while they are beginning to be found, are not to common and are a little pricey for a MacBook Air. Expect 4 GB in the MBA when a MBP can take 8 GB.
I'm good without the additional 2GB. I know I don't need it on my MBA. I do have 8GB on my Mac Pro, b/c that's my workhorse...
