When I drag it to the trash it says "The item "blah blah blah.jpg" is being used by another task right now. (other tasks include moving, copying, or emptying the trash.) Try again when the other taskis complete."

I did the system permission rebuild &
restarted. I've held down "various" keys when sending to the trash.

i am running 10.2 on a brand new 900mhz Ibook

Would like osx better if stuff like this wasnt starting to already happen!!!!!!

any suggestions for deleting the icon from the desktop?????

Is it definitely a JPEG image?

Usually, if I find a file I cannot delete, I try a virus scan and then check the HD with TechTool or Diskwarrior. (Whatever boots the machine.)

If nothing comes up, you can always target disk your iBook to another machine and delete it that way.

Those are quick fixes and if the IE/Safari thing works then all the better. If not, though, you might want to make sure there isn't some bigger problem with your machine.

but the biggest problem with my machine is that UNIX has taken over MAC and the MAC OS IS DEAD.

long live the MAC

15 years with the MAC and i never had that problem before!!!!!
