I was wondering if anyone had any input on putting a 500GB Western Digital 5400RPM SATA drive in to a brand spanking new MacBook?

Due to the one shipped with them is 5400 too - will the power consumption (and thus battery life) be the same?

The replacement I have in mind comes with 3 years warranty so hopefully they'll last longer than the previous MacBook 120GB/160GB drives did!

Any input would be much appreciated.

The drive in question is:

How about I save you a little money:

I can't speak to how well it works, but I plan on buying a MacBook and putting this hard drive in it as well.

Is the Samsung better than the WD 500GB drive?

on the same note, will a 7200rpm HD affect the battery life? Anyone thinking of swapping out the HD for a larger capacity and faster HD?
