Old School 3D text in Illustrator Help

Hey, here is my question. I am designing some signs in illustrator and the wording needs to look like the words in the picture below. Notice the words are coming out from a vanishing point not just from the side, or bottom like the default Extrude/Bevel effect does. Does anyone know of an effect / tutorial / plug in that would give this effect? I have tried a bunch of things but with no good results. I am using Illustrator CS3, Photoshop is an options as well. Thanks in advance for your help!
