How does the graphical performance compare between the new Macbook and the old 2.2 Macbook Pro with 8600M and 128mb of ram? I play games like Bioshock and Company of Heroes on my Pro but if the GPU performance is comparable I'd like to get one of the new Macbooks for better portability.

According to the keynote the 9400m is about 55% (x3100 was 11%) of what the current (256mb) 8400M was capable of. Just a guess but i'd imagine they'd be about equal (128mb 8400M ~ 9400m utilizing 256mb)

The 9400M is slightly more powerful than the 8400M (5 - 15%?), and much weaker than the 8600M GT. 55% of the 8600M GT would be about right.

If you wanna go ahead and play at a lower resolution with all the settings turned to low, sure get a Macbook.

You probably haven't seen the new macbook playing games, the 9400m has nothing to do with the old intel gma3100 crap,
just go check on youtube, i can play left 4 dead at 1280x800 with everything on high.

While the 9400 is better than the old 3100 by a lot (big deal) , it is still considered a low end graphic card and still integrated which is a joke. Don't be stupid and buy the reg Macbook for games. In a year the 9400 won't be able to play the current games at that time without it being on low settings and lagging. The Macbook is still a joke for any semi serious gaming.

Yes I have played on the reg alu Macbook a lot.

Well the 8400m had Dedicated ram , or am I wrong? the 9400m only goes for shared ram.. well as far as I can say, i can play Cod4 on my 22" on high res, with everything set to "medium" which blows my old 6600GT away :D

I am not a gamer... taht much but the amcbook is OK for games! 1000000x better than the GMA crap! (gma 950 in my mini.... )

I think your confusing the 8400M for the 8600GT that was in the old Macbook Pro?

Either way the 9400M is faster than the 8400M, and about 55% the speed of the 8600GT in the old Macbook Pro.
