If I were to buy a current gen Macbook and connect a USB Blu-ray drive ( http://www.amexdigital.com/Press_Release-E_Portable%20Blu-ray%20Super%20Multi%20Drive.htm ) to it, would I be able to watch Blu-ray movies on my HDTV through the Mini DisplayPort by connecting to either the DVI or VGA ports?
This is the one thing keeping me from getting a new Macbook right now. Help me decide. Thanks.

The missing link in this chain is HDCP.

Can you tell me how HDCP would affect USB Blu-ray -> Macbook -> Mini DisplayPort -> Samsung T240HD HDTV (DVI)? I don't see any problem.

HDCP must be present in the Blu-Ray drive (always is), video card (sometimes is) and HDTV (always is if it has HDMI port). The 9400 card from NVidia is HDCP compliant, but no one know if the MacBook's version of the 9400 is HDCP compliant. Probably is, but no way to know without installing Windows on your MacBook, buying a DVD ROM drive, and giving it a try.
