My iPod Touch has always had a little hiss noise in the background. But I've never gotten around to doing anything about it. My warranty ends in a couple weeks so I am running out of time. Will they replace my iPod if I bring it in? Has anyone had this problem and done something about it?

From what i've heard from other people, the iTouch shouldn't have those issues. Take it into the Apple Store, and you'll probably walk out with a shiny, new one that doesn't make annoying sounds. That's what I'd do.

Are you sure they'd give me a new one? I thought they only give refurbished ones.
Well, what I think I'm going to do is buy the extended warranty and wait for them to run out of refurbished 1st gens. That way, I can get the 2nd gen ( I just want the volume toggle).

Depends on how nice the employee is. I had a friend who took one in for a broken headphone jack, and he got a brand new iTouch. I can't guarantee that they'll do the same in every case, though.
