Just ordered a MB 2.4 from my local mac dealer but I forgot to tell them that I wanted a 128gb SSD drive. Anyone know where I could pick up a good one?

SSD is going to be pricey regardless of where you purchase it. The forum has several discussions of the various types/models and newegg.com seems to be a popular place to look for them.

Indeed, Intel is currently the best SSD on the market but it tops out at 80GB currently.

for now, christmas is supposed to release 160gb and 240gb.
but really 80gb ssd is more than u need, because most people should have a home external drive and the ssd is for storing stuff while ur mobile.

I disagree. With my statistical software, Creative Suite, Office, OpenOffice, all my music, movies, etc. stored, I'm at 90GB.
I don't want to lug around an external hard disk to use these programs.
For *most* people, 80 GB should be enough. Not for all though.
I remember a time when someone mentioned that 640KB was all the memory you would need.

i guess u need to wait for the 160gb model or carry less movies and music.
and it was bill gates who said 640kb is all you need.

If I ever buy a SSD it will be for the security reasons, they told me (or read somewhere) that it dosent crash as much as a HHD.
anyone?

Yea I knew it was Gates who said that.
I plan on waiting for the 160 GB model. However, you said 80GB would be enough. It's not enough for everyone.

I might try to install an SSD in place of the DVD drive (now SATA) since the botom comes off easily and you don't need to shock mount them.
I'll use the 32GB fast SSD for the OS and some apps and....welll you know.
This won't even void the warranty cuz know one will know (it looks that easy.)
I'll use velcro (handy stuff) :D
BTW....I'm serious. (albeit ,insane)

Yeah SSD have no spinning parts there for less chance of failure and i believe it is alot easier to get data off a broken ssd.

a 128gb SSD drive.
Isn't "SSD drive" a lot like saying "ATM machine"?

He never actually said that.
Anywho, any 2.5" SSD with a 9.5mm profile will fit your new macbook. Be sure to read reviews and pick a well liked drive. Its going to be pricey no matter what.

Cool. I've always heard that he said that. Never read anything before debunking it (until now).

As implied above, main thing is to WAIT half a year or more, get used to your MB and think about other things. In the future, prices are bound to go down and capacities are bound to go up. Plus long-term use with the stock HD will give you a better idea of the real performance boost of the SSD.

If I made the most embarrassing quote in the history of computing, and it wasn't on tape, I would deny it too... just sayin'
