Been searching this for awhile on the usual suspect sites... Has anyone seen any benchmarks of the new Macbooks where they compare the 2.0 and 2.4 ghz models? I was really hoping for something like Tom's Hardware where they do a number of practical tests since what I'm really interested in is things like encoding time and whatnot.

PERFECT!

Thank you, that was exactly what I'm looking for!

Hmm...

So for $250:
- 15% faster encoding
- Illuminated Keyboard (Wouldn't use)
- Hard Drive upgrade (that you can get for around $90)

Aaaaaand... That's it.

So I think I made my choice. Once I just make sure the 2.0 ghz Macbook can play 1080P video I know what I'm getting! I'll probably just spend the saved money on a HD and RAM upgrade somewhere down the road.

2.0 can play 1080p although I'm not sure why you'd want to - the screen is barely larger than 720p video.

(Unless you're planning on doing video out of course!)

Yep, I output the video. I actually mainly use 720p by far but I want it to be able to play 1080p if it had to.
