I have a MacBook and a Gaming PC, the latter with an 8800 GTS, which was second-to-top-of-the-line at the time of it's release (behind 8800 GTX, so VERY close). Macbook runs Leopard, PC runs Vista.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW 22" LCD, a popular monitor for both Windows and Mac users. It has 1 DVI input and 1 VGA input.

Why is it that when I plug my MacBook into VGA, it's actually unreadable? The text is incredibly blurry and images are as well. It's impossible to use, at all. When I plug my PC into the VGA port however, so that my MacBook can work through DVI, the PC looks just as good as it did under DVI (though the colors aren't as sharp, particularly the grays).

I'm just curious as to why OS X absolutely is terrible under VGA and Windows is fine. Could it be font smoothing? Or just a flaw with the MacBook's video chip?
