I had another shoot yesterday. She wanted to do a b&w nude for her portfolio....

Sounds like a tough job.
Great pics but the last one is probably bordering on what's acceptable here. ;)

1st shot- I love the pose! But your lighting looks to be too hot. I would turn it down to get more contrast, especially if you were shooting these with the intent of them being bw.
The other 2, especially the last one do nothing for me. I strongly dislike the pose in the last shot, and the model has a strange look on her face on the second one.
Thanks for posting! I think the first shot shows real promise.

The lighting looks very harsh to me too- it's been a few weeks since I calibrated, but I don't think I've drifted that much.
The facial expression on the second is good, but the blown out white at the bottom detracts from her face, which is a shame, because she's got a great face- a crop to portrait mode to get rid of the extra space would help immeasurably. With a tad less light, or with the light a bit more diffuse it'd be killer.
The last one just screams for a background and a more natural-looking pose (probably a lower camera angle too.)
Unlike Jake, I think that her nose/forehead/lower lip don't really work in the first one even if the lighting was less harsh- the body pose is nice, but her features aren't flattered like they are in the other pictures- perhaps with a long super-tele compressing the features it might work, but I think I'd shoot more to the side so she looks better.

Thanks guys she is a hard model to shoot for (my second shoot with her) im constantly trien to get her too keep her mouth closed. Its "natural" for her i guess. I can see how the lighting can be hars to some. But it might be my "style". I like to have harsh lighting and more blacks on my pp.

Yeah, I removed the first image from that set...definitely too much for our forum.
For thumbnails, wrap the image URLs in [timg] tags instead of [img] tags.

First thought on the 3rd shot in the 1st set .... " now I know why I dislike tatttoos "
However if the idea was to highlight the tattoos, maybe some sort of sheer wrap across here bottom!
I agree the lighting could be softer.

A photographic 'style' isn't some inflexible, self-imposed rule to which all subsequent shots have to conform. It's a process, not a destination, IMO...
Saying you like "harsh lighting" is kinda putting the cart before the horse...
I'm not too sure what you were aiming for with these pix. As traditional figure studies, they're so-so (do you know the b/w nudes of Edward Weston?). They don't stand up as erotica. They're not glamour. Or characterful portraits.
Instead of saying "she's a hard model to shoot", maybe you could accept that she's fine... and that getting good shots is the responsibility of the photographer...

Your lighting seems a bit harsh in a lot of the pictures. Might I suggest you check out the model sections in the following forums:

There are a ton of guys/gals who do this type of photography for a living and can give you some good advice about setting up the lighting to working with models.
Good luck.
