The Superbowl Commercial Thread

As the time approaches for all those eye candy commercials to start appearing on our televisions, rather than having many threads talking about 'this commercial' or 'that commercial' let's consolidate into this one location.

Uhhhh, who's playing in the SuperBowl anyhow? I'm just watching for the commercials. :D

Here's to hoping that Apple has some surprise for us! (Hey, I can dream right?)

Not really a commercial but,

I don't know who this band is that's playing as the announcers move inside, and I don't really like their music, but the keyboardist does have a Aluminum PowerBook off to the side! Looks like a new 15 inch. Great to have a little cameo!

So far none of them have been that great. I like the pepsi bear one, they are all pretty funny but the acting is pretty bad.

The itunes/pepsi ad was not that great at all. People want someone to relate to, like well known artists that use itunes or something not kids. Apple really needs to do the sledgehammer 20th ad that would be sweet.

It shure did pop out. In australia we get an international feed with no ads and they did cut away after 2 seconds but enough to see it side on so you could tell it was real.

Sorry, I didn't think any of the commericals were that great this year. Some of them were funny but nothing outstanding.

And what was up with the pepsi commericals. Only one of them were for iTunes and if I didn't know about the promotion already, I would have totally forgot about it by the end of the game.

If you ask me, there were too many CBS commercials... It just got annoying... Yes, you're hosting the grammy's, you have Survivor after the Super Bowl, and you have an 'amazing' lineup :rolleyes:

They would've made more money selling those spots...

I was amazed by how far many of the ads went (not necessarily a bad thing). The one with the kids awshing their mouths out with soap (chevy) and the piper with the (steam?) going up his kilt (Sierra mist) and others...

Oh and do those anti-drug ads bother anyone else? After all, they're winning the war on drugs by spending millions on unsettling ads (rewind of girl w/pot and alcohol) :rolleyes:

Well, at 2.5 million a pop, they might not have HAD enough sponsors, but who knows. I agree, though, that there wre way too many CBS ads. It was just boring after a while.

Did anyone else catch this? So was this re-aired during the superbowl or did I miss it? Apple obvious spent some dough to modify the footage.

Also, about the Janet Jackson boob thing. I'm sorry, but that was just wrong. Having a guy rip off a gals clothing on TV sends the wrong message period. Is it any wonder there's some much volience against women in the US. It was not OK to show that and I hope CBS takes some heat.

The modifications have been noticed and posted many many times, but it's interesting to see that people are still noticing it for the first time.

Also, I don't think that it was intentional that Justin exposed Janet, I think that in their dance, one of them just slipped.

i thought the commercials this year were pathetic. i didn't see every one of them but the one's i did see were either tasteless, dumb or misoginistic.

What's up with that? CBS stated all along (and they have for the last 7-8 years) that they will not play political adverts during the superbowl. Actually I think it's an NFL thing. they don't want half of the population boycotting the League because of a political statement.

no freakin' way the boob was an accident -- unless her costume included, for no reason at all, a tear-away cup, and justin, for no reason, decided to reach over and cop a feel on live tv.

as for the streaker, there was a long-shot right before the 2nd half kickoff where you could see some commotion on the field, bu tthey cut to commentary right quick. apparently this guy has been arrested a lot in the past for similar stuff. he had a website written on his chect, but none of the reputable news outlets will report what site it was, so as not to legitimize his stunt.

the commercials were dumb. the halftime show renewed my hatred for humanity. but the game was good. too bad carolina lost.
