Too bad MyDoom's "Dick-On-aStick" attack on Darl McBride should prove to be equally as successful.

MyDoom did nothing. It's all you people checking at once just to SEE if MyDoom took the site down that are causing the problem!

Ah damn, Looks like their web site is back up again.

If SCO didn't do stupid things like falsely claim some code belongs to them in Linux and then charge high fees or sue anyone using linux then this attack wouldn't have happened.

humm....

SCO's main webpage has a very prominent iBook and mouse on it...

pretty stupid considering that part of the page is about the MyDoom virus...

A few noted quotes:

Actually, SCO removed their web site from the DNS records manually so the virus would have nothing to attack... They are, however telling the press that their site was, and is being flooded by the virus. The press is reporting the SCO spin as gospel without bothering to check NS Lookups. Meanwhile, ftp.sco.com, which is on the same subnet, is responding normally which would be impossible if the subnet were being flooded.

Actually, www.sco.com has been offline since before MyDoom was designed to strike.
and if you do an nlslookup on www.sco.com you get NXDOMAIN (no such domain), sco themselves removed www.sco.com from their DNS servers.

if you go to sco.com (no www.) it works fine.
SCO itself is responsible for the outage at www.sco.com, instead of actually bothering to deal with a simplistic, forewarned DDOS attack they simply removed the lookup for their main site (better plublicity i'm sure).

Have you heard about mydoom 2? It's all the geeks in the world checking to see if sco.com still works.

Interesting...SCO is supposed to be a Unix company, and yet they're putting out warnings about Windows viruses using Macs in the graphics.

Tell them what you think about the iBook spreading viruses!

The Contact Us link on the bottom left corner doesn't work, you have to remove "www." from the link. Or just use this one:

http://sco.com/company/feedback/index.html

I sent them an e-mail:
_________
On the page http://sco.com/mydoom/ is a picture of an iBook, but they are free of this virus. Maybe a Dell should be put there instead.
_________

We don't want to have to wrong impressions given to the iBook ;)
