European Phone working in US

Hi there everyone. I bought a European iPhone 3G a few weeks ago. I however am going to be in the US very regularly since I am living in Europe for work. In the EU iPhone is suported by T-Mobile. Can I take a iPhone from Europe and use it in the US on a T-Mobile net work with either a US prepaid or plan? I closed my Sprint account since I moved here and really do not want to purchase another phone when I get back to the US.

You'll have to buy a Sim Unlock solution as Deutsche T-Mobile and US T-mobile are essentially different companies.

You can roam, but I don't know DT's roaming policies.
