GridIron's software takes care of the configuration and management tasks required to run a computing job across a group of computers – work that would be too complex for most end-users to handle themselves, Abbas said. That ability, combined with today's network speeds, could help to make grid computing accessible to everyday desktop users, he said.
okay, i admit i don't know too much about clustered computing, but doesn't this seem pretty similar to xGrid, except adobe is paying money to use it?

Xgrid is not available for pc's, and Adobe is a cross platform software company.

I wonder if they are using Rendezvous (aka ZeroConf) for the discovery of other nodes like xGrid, iTunes, Tivo HMO and xCode do.
I really hope so, as I would love to see it become widely used as a cross-platform standard.
I'm surprised we haven't seen this kind of thing for Final Cut Pro already. Hopefully this will spur Apple to implement it. (finger's crossed!)
