I'm wanting to put movies on my iPod Touch 2nd Generation and I downloaded Handbrake but I already have a couple of movies on my laptop with some as .avi files and one with MPEG-4 file but it will not let me select in under Source in Handbrake. Do I have to convert those files to a certain file type because the movie doesnt even show up when I click "Browse". All the help will be much appreciated.

Handbrake is only for converting DVDs to digital files. It won't convert between various formats. Try iSquint instead.

A beta version of Handbrake has this feature. It lets you select any source, either from optical media or on the HDD itself. I forgot where you can download it, but it's legal and free. iSquint, you can try the open source version.
