Once the new iMacs come out. will the current gen. refurbished stay in the refurb store till maybe: Christmas? I see one in there for 699$. and I'm guessing if that stays there till x-mas then it'll be like 300$ right? once it gets below 450$ I'll buy it. even if its not x-mas.

I think you will be lucky to see it much below the $699 you stated no matter how long you wait.

If you're looking for an iMac - late model refurb for less than $450.00 you better check around at local garage sales...:D

It will never be that cheap. This is Apple not Dell.

Well, there is one refurb. iMac at the refurb Apple store for 699. got a 512MB RAM though. so if the new gen. comes out..it'll go down right? there's no way it'll go up.

They'll maybe upgrade it or stop selling it. They probably wouldn't make the price that low. Most G5 iMacs are still worth nearly that much.

Hey, I just picked up an iMac for $20 the other day. Beat that!
cough, G3 w/10GB HD & 128MB RAM, cough
In all seriousness though, if you want an iMac with decent and somewhat recent specs, you're not going to get it for less than, say, $800.

Cool, a $20 iMac. I almost got a 350 model for 15. Had no Firewire.

I have dual firewire. Strawberry pink too. So, you know, that's a plus. It's not exactly cutting edge, but it's a pretty good little email/internet machine.

They might just sell out of them since that is so cheap. No way its going much lower than that.

$699?? I just looked and it's not there now.....so GONE already!
(was that a 17" white model?)
super deals don't seem to last long on the refurb page.

super deals don't seem to last long on the refurb page.Yeah, that's the one I last week and it's a really sweet deal for a switcher like me - who doesn't have unlimited funds, or unlimited space for the 20-24" alu macs.
After all, I'm needing to pick up XP ($90), a backup drive (320G for $114 at amazon), and eventually I'm going to need to figure out my printer setup. I'm very glad that I didn't spring for the $1299 or even the $999 at the refurb store.
But I agree. I don't see them offering this machine for less than $699. I just don't. I've seen one off and on at the refurb store - and I'm very glad that I just took the plunge.
Note: though you do get a mighty mouse with it, you get the previous gen keyboard. Not that there's anything wrong with that - it's a nice piece of hardware. But you don't get the new, ultra-slim one, FYI.

It's been on/off for the past 2 or so months. the thing is that it has a 17" white screen, and 512MB of RAM.

Right - the RAM is disappointing. But from everything I've heard here, upgrading that is easy, and cheap via Crucial.

What RAM do the 17" White iMacs take(the one that we're talking about in this thread-512MB RAM, 1.83GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo Processor)?
