So what is the point in this poll if those who generally don't answer truthfully answer "yes" to it?

haha, why cant more people be rebels and say no? its paradoxical and fun!

You could also put "no, I always choose the bottom option" at the top, and "no, I always choose the top option" at the bottom, and see what happens :)

Wow, two hundred something people have voted and this is the fourth post... Anyways, I voted yes, since I usually (key word: usually) answer truthfully.
This poll doesn't make much sense. If you voted no, that would mean that you don't answer truthfully, which means you lied when you said "no" but then that would mean the real answer is "yes" which contradicts your previous statement making this a whole big loop. Aaargh I confused myself saying that. Maybe someone else could explain it better.

Of course you silly fools. ;) Why would I waste my time answering the poll if I wasn't going to be honest. Sounds like something a PC user would do. :D

What's the plural of paradox? Paradoxi? Paradoxes? It's very baffling.
Actually, it probably isn't, but I'd like to think that it is.

Let's see. If you always answer polls truthfully, you say Yes to this one. If you always answer polls falsely, you say Yes to this one. That's how it should work if people are consistent about this and the poll says "always". Instead, people are inconsistent and the poll says "generally", spoiling all the paradoxical fun.

no one has seemed to comment that this poll has nothing to do with macs. I find the name macpolls to be paradoxical.

Dotor Q is right. The answer should be 100% yes, whether people have lied or not! It is a pradoxical question, or would have been if the question asked "always" instead of "generally".
I guess the "No's" are from people who sometimes lie but not in this instance! :D :p

Oh yeah? What about users outside the US???
Sorry, wrong thread... :D
For the next poll, how about:
What's your favourite colour?
A) True.
B) False.
C) All of the above.

this is too damned funny...

You got it! I answer these polls here truthfully because there is really no bearing on my life due to decisions made based on this information. However I always lie to political pollsters, market surveyers etc. My thinking, particularly with the political ones, is that if enough people start lying to them that the polls aren't accurate anymore, they might go back to making their decisions the old-fashioned way. On some kind of principle rather than sticking their finger in the air and checking to see which way the wind is blowing. I'd suggest we all do the same. Spread the word.
ive never lied on a poll....
until today

It gets even worse! Some of the 'yes' votes are lies, so how do we know which of the "yes's" are from truthful people and how manyy are from liars. On the other hand, some of the "no's" could be from typical liars who are telling the truth this time, but some could be from almost perfectly honest people who stray this time.
Maybe we ought to call the Dept. of Homeland Security to straighten this out. Or maybe not!

Yes, I answer polls truthfully, except maybe this one, but if I didn't, I wouldn't say.
Prior to answering a poll we should be sworn in on a stack of manuals--Apple manuals for sure--they are thinner and lighter.

I have given an incorrect answer on some of the polls. When the question has the form "Are you going to buy..." about some newly announced product, I often think I'm going to buy one (swept up in the hype of announcements), but then find it's not the best option for me after I research the facts.
The most recent case was the "Will you change your Pepsi buying habits in February?" poll. I thought I would, but I have yet to find a yellow cap Pepsi in the 9 stores I've been to, and the prices on the 20oz size have been unreasonably high. If the question had been "Do you PLAN to change your habits?" my YES answer would have been truthful. But since it was "WILL YOU change your habits?", my YES answer was not truthful in hindsight.

Is this one of those twisted questions where nobody can really answer NO and stay true to their nature?
Since all the truthful people should answer YES...
And every lying sack can't answer NO without being truthful.
Now my head hurts.

Yeah, it is an interesting paradox ;) . But as far as answering the poll, yes, I answer truthfully. Otherwise, what's the point in answering it? Also, I realize that you can really screw the poll for folks who care about the results. Bad karma, man...
