Hello,

I have a basic 13" macbook I got back in 2006. The battery only lasts about an hour, if that and the computer overheats fairly easily. The battery spec's are:

Battery Installed: Yes
First low level warning: No
Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 1935
Remaining Capacity (mAh): 1928
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 12411
Cycle Count: 210

Battery Health (from istat) 79% (it said 38% a few minuets ago)
Cycle Count: 210

Are these numbers on par for what I should be at? Will apple replace the battery under the 3 year protection plan I got with the computer?

Thanks for your help guys!

Those numbers don't sound right. Your full charge is 1935, mine's 5074. The charge should not drop that significant in only a couple of years. Thankfully, because you have AppleCare, it should be replaced free of charge.

I went to a mac store and the "genius" said that batteries are not covered. Is this a lie?

Typically batteries fall under normal wear and tear, and aren't covered.

However, Apple recognize that batteries should keep at least 80% capacity when under 300 cycles.

Battery Lifespan
A properly maintained Apple notebook battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 300 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.
from http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html

Users on this forum have had them replaced under AppleCare when they fail to meet this benchmark. It's worth calling Apple directly.

Thanks for the info.

Mine is already at 79% at only 2210 cycles. I wonder if they would understand that by 300 cycles it would be well below the 80% desired.

Do you guys think they will be that understanding?

Apple macbook batteries are covered by Apple for two years from the date of purchase and here (http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/) is the documentation.
Call Applecare right away for replacement if you qualify..

now the details for my battery are:

attery Information:

Battery Installed: Yes
First low level warning: No
Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3961
Remaining Capacity (mAh): 3800
Amperage (mA): -649
Voltage (mV): 11821
Cycle Count: 210

Why would tthe full charge capacity change like that?

Can anyone think of any reason this would change so much?
