got my first mac today (dual 1.25ghz g4 & 19" mitsubishi crt) and i am so impressed with it...
ive already added another 1gig ram, my old pioneer 104 drive and a pci usb2 card and they all just "worked" straight away :) no drivers, nothin...
i could really get used to this..
oh yeh. i think it has panther but how can i be sure? it doesnt say panther anywhere, just 10.3 in the sys prefs..
thanks

If it says 10.3, you have panther. Enjoy your new mac, nice set up!

Buying a Mac is always a special occation for me since I get a new one every 3 years. I am due for an upgrade this Christmas 2004, but I just hope they have the G5 PowerBook by then.

Every three years?!? Let's see, I first had an Apple ][e, then I upgraded to a Macintosh LC, then I went to a PowerPC 7200/75 MHz and just recently I bought a 17" 1 GHz iMac with 768 MB Ram. Three years - I think I'm averaging around 6 years, and the thing is, all my machines still work. I just love programming in Basic. Cute little sprites dancing around my screen.

Great, isn't it? We often forget how nice that is... and then we have to use a Windows machine and you can't even plug in a USB mouse without looking for a %^$^% driver

I'd like to welcome myself to the forum also :)
I'm currently trying to convince my gf that we really DO NEED a fifth Mac in our one bedroom apartment.

Had this problems with my ex-fiance. We finally settled on a Mac for every 10 pairs of shoes ratio. We split and she took the Performa (haha) and I still have a nice pair of red FM pumps.

Except if we talk about the war, politics, sexuality and religion. But Macrumors is actually one of the best discusion places on the net. PC forums seem to be filled with drug talking teenages and twenty somthings that spend all there time flaming each other because they have nothing better to do.
