I am having difficulty deciding which music app to buy, Soundtrack or Garage Band. I mainly want to use the loop feature, I've tinkered on Soundtrack before and loved it. But I'm wondering if it is overkill for an amateur like me to a pro app like Soundtrack. Garage Band seems to be more an average consumer app, but it doesn't offer as much selection loopwise. Can anyone offer any advice on this?

I do not have very much experience with either. However, if you think that it might be overkill, it may be. I would try out Garage Band as if it is not for you in the end, you really are not out the $50 because there are other programs in the package. Also, if you qualify for an educational discount the price goes down to $30.
