Yeah I've seen those on tv too. I wonder what the guidelines are for driving/flying one of those things about town.

No idea, but I'd like to see the police try and pull me over for speeding in this thing! (380mph @ 20,000ft!)

Haha, I'd like to touch down right in front of my office. Maybe fly by my building and wave to the rest of the tenants.

It couldn't be easy to park one of those things.

If I remember right, you have to have a pilots license at this point. The FAA is working with these folks on a modified license program. Eventually they see GPS as a means of mass market appeal. The "flight" would then be automatic.

Sorry, not enough money in loose pocket change here to get you airborne in one of those.

Maybe if I and another member get together we can try launching you into space by strapping a load a bottle rockets to your tail.

The flight tests were successful on this? It's viable?

They haven't done any test without a tether yet and those top speeds are a lot less than the original design plan :D

It will be a while before you see these things flying around...

Their website used to have clips of the tests of these "flying cars." As I recall the noise level of these things is tremendous. That and a few safety concerns will keep me in more conventional vehicles for a while.

The engines are small Wankels, which are about as noisy as a leaf blower :o

When was the last time you used a couple of leaf blowers together? ;) Noisy little suckers aren't they? Seriously, I don't remember the noise levels exactly, I'm only going on what I remember from their site. I'll try and look it up and post it.

Wow. Now I have to think of a way to become rich in order to buy that thing. That is awesome. Jeez. That rocks. I really can't express how incredible that things seems.

edit: OK, so I decided to read the rest of the thread. OK, so it's kind of a sketchy flight...By the time I'm out in the real world, they'll have worked the kinks out, and by the time I have enough money to buy one, the human race will be extinct.
