Hey all i was just wonder if i were to get an 867 PM G4 possibly dual with superdrive and 15" apple display off ebay would i be enough to do some MiniDV editing, garageband, burning DVDs and acting as a server for my other computers??

generally servers don't "serve" any other purpose besides being a server. That computer would be find for your other needs, but running it as a server too isn't necessarily a great idea.

for the sever part i just want to have computer were i have backups for all my files on my laptop

The 867 PM G4 should be fine for iMovie and iDVD, although if you are going to do a lot of this type of work, you may find the 15" display a little on the small side, I would recommend trying to pick up at least a 17".

You are not really using the Mac as a server if you are just backing up files from time to time, the PowerMac will be fine for this.
