I own a older white MacBook and for some reason my Super Drive refuses to read any disk. I would really like to update to 10.5, but without a working disk drive I really don't know how to complete this without finding a torrent of 10.5 and putting onto an external drive and installing from the disk image, but I'm not too interested in doing that.
My question is, if I purchase an external hard drive, back up my friend's MacBook that does have 10.5 installed on it, swap it into my computer as an internal drive, would I be able to boot up using that? I guess in essence it would make my computer his computer, but I just want to make sure that this would in fact work.
Any help would be great!
