so theres this icon near my battery icon that i dont know what it is... just showed up one day and never went away... anyone know what it is.. or what it does? or how to get rid of it?

It is for MewSeek, the soulseek app.
I imagine it is draining your battery pretty bad, you might want to exit using the exit button in the upper right of Mewseek rather than the home key.
