Hi all,

Just thought it would be interesting to find out from everyone what fonts everyone thinks they use the most in design. It will be a nice way to perhaps discover new fonts as well. For myself, I have found myself using Myriad Pro more and more in designs..

Also, I understand that no font will be perfect for every design but surely there must be one which you enjoy using?

Oli

I know.

It's already become clichéd.

But I am so in love with Gotham (http://www.typography.com/fonts/font_overview.php?productLineID=100008) and all of its happy wonderful weights!

I love arial and authentic highway fonts. The Helvetica family is nice, but doesn't have the angled ends.

^Overused, but that's okay.

Personally, its Gill Sans and Avenir for me. I really like Geometric or Humanist Sans-serif fonts. :D

Edit:
I forgot my personal favorite script font: Shelley Volante.

I was going to say:

• Impact
• Sand
• Arial
• Algerian
• Zapf Chancery and...
• Comic Sans

but then thought better of it. ;)

:D

In truth, I'm partial to a bit of Avenir (http://www.linotype.com/72/avenir-family.html) at the moment. Warmer and easier than Futura, more casual and humanist than Helvetica.

Gill Sans light and lowercase has been creeping its way into a few of my logos lately.

I'm glad comic sans is getting a resurgence. It's a personal challenge to use. It's easy to hate on something.

Helvetica > Arial

According to Max Kerning, "Arial is to Helvetica what Cheese Whiz is to chevre. Don't be disgusting."

Myriad pro, trebuchet ms, and more..

For people familiar with proximus, a Belgium phone company, their font in their ads is nice too.

Mmmm, another Adrian Frutiger font. Univers was used for Apple keyboards for a long time, up until they switched over to VAG Rundschrift recently.

I'm honestly stunned several people have said Gill Sans. Anyone care to share why they enjoy it? I've never been a fan, but would love to hear why some do like it.

Check out the various Bernhard fonts, from long ago. My grandfather designed them, and sold them decades ago, so I have no stake, but some of them are very elegant.

The lowercase "j" in Futura has always bothered me.

As for Gill Sans, I've always loved the roundness of it. And I love the contrast between the bold and regular weights.

the lowercase "j" as we see it in futura today would have bothered Paul Renner as well....

Your grandfather was legendary poster designer Lucian Bernhard? Very cool.

I wondering if anyone knows of somewhere I could possible acquire the font 'DIN', I have looked EVERYWHERE for it with no avail. It seems to be one of the more elegant variations of my favourite, and as you can appreciate, over used 'Myriad Pro' semibold.

I rather think its the dogs bollocks and would welcome any help finding this such illusive font'age :)

I have to agree with you on this one...I love this font.
So classy looking.

When it comes to scripty/handwritten fonts I like Cezanne. It looks so colonial, almost like written with a quill pen.

I'm enamoured not only with it's simplicity, its idiosyncrasies, but also it's neutrality, to quote Wim Crouwel... "We were impressed by that because it was more neutral, and neutralism was a word that we loved. It should be neutral. It shouldn't have a meaning in itself. The meaning is in the content of the text and not in the typeface." and that is why I shall conform to stereotype and say Helvetica. :)

I try to stay away from Helvetica just because it's kind of a fanboy thing now. Other than that, whatever comes with my MacBook when it's brand new. And then I'll buy fonts when the project needs it, but I haven't really had to.

Myriad pro, trebuchet ms, and more..

Myriad Pro is the best, I love it, not just because Apple use it...

For those that want to know where you can get Myriad, just download/buy any CS3 or CS4 app from Adobe and you'll have the full range.

It's a copyrighted font. Do not ask for links or help with this on MR. Go and buy it and reward its creators.

No matter how many new trendy gothic fonts I try I seem to always go back to Trade Gothic, it goes with everything like Helvetica.

Avenir LT has been my favorite lately.

Has anyone used the Adobe Font folio? Cause I got a copy from my friend and don't know if it's worth downloading.
