hi there,

I am about to purchase a sealed iphone 3g. i also bought a GEVEY 3g sim for it. what do i need to do to unlock it? do i need to jailbreak it at all?

please let me know.

thanks so much,
ipaqman

nope. just insert the geyvey sim while the phone is off, and when you turn it on it should be running as normal. It worked perfectly for me

no jailbreak required? can i still purchase apps from the app store and update the firmware?

thanks.

all the geyvey does is trick the phone into thinking a "test sim" is inserted. So the phone makes all services available therefore unlocking the phone. It has nothing to do the apps or firmware updating. Everything should run as normal.
