I have some questions for you. For those who always rip in Apple Lossless.

1. Do you play your music from your computer's hard drive or external hard drive? How big is your internal HD and what Mac do you have?

2. Do you put Apple Lossless in your iPod?

My media server is a Mac Mini which has a miniscule hard drive, so I have a pile of external hard drives hooked up to it to hold my iTunes library and so on.

I don't use Apple Lossless on my iPhone. I end up having two different iTunes libraries: one on my media server at home (which has more than 17k tracks), and one on my work laptop (1631 tracks right now). The ones on my work laptop (with a 250-GB hard drive) are converted to AAC to save space.

1. I store my tracks on 750GB external HDD, connected to a 24" 2.8GHz aluminum iMac. :)

2. I use lossless on my iPhone because there's no transcoding options in iTunes like there is for the iPod shuffle. :(

I have all my music on my MBP, but all movies I put on an external drive - Not sure about movies atm but music totals about 14GB.

Yup - I put it on my iPod; Although, I've tried various methods of encoding in times past and there's probably some MP3 or AAC remnants on there yet.

Hi,

I have 95 GB of Apple Lossless on the internal 5400 rpm 160 GB in my Macbook.

I have a 1st gen 4 GB nano, and apart from being a bit small for lossless sometimes there is a slight lag between songs on gapless albums such as live shows. I think the newer ones handle lossless much better.
