Keep hold of it. If recent times have taught anyone anything, it's that having a nice big fat bank balance is a good thing.

I'd love to see them gobble up a few specialty companies like Elgato and Tivo. The living room is the next frontier for computer makers and several key aquisitions at low market prices would make great sense right now.

Why buy it?

I rather Apple use that money for R&D to destroy rather than purchase TiVo. AppleTV has future potential and I think the Apple brand is much stronger that TiVo.

The article starts by asking "What should Apple do with its spare billions?" and then goes on for 1,000 words without addressing that question even slightly!

of course they will

they've saved up for a couple of years so that they have money to spare in a situation like this

however, if apple's long term strategy involves buying up outside talent, now is the time to do it...

but the fact of the matter is, it's none of our business what apple do with their bank, and it's foolish to even suggest that we know what they're going to do with it.

For stockholders, it's every bit of their business what they do with it.

Well then discuss it on a Stock Investment forum.

Don't pretend that more than a handful of the people on this forum buy and sell apple stock based on the company and market conditions...

I'll discuss it here when it comes up, but thanks anyway.

The wheel was a great invention. Why re-invent it? Most people will tell you they love Tivo more than any other DVR. If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

Of course nobody knows what they're going to do with it.

But we all have an invested interest, even if we don't own stock. What's wrong with speculation?
