John Legend - Evolver
I really dug his 1st album, Get Lifted, as well as most of the collaborative efforts he has been involved with. I enjoyed his 2nd album, but it was a little too slow for me. I like his more hip-hop inspired tracks. What are peoples opinions of it?

M.I.A. - Kala
Like everyone else, I really dig the song Paper Planes, and was wondering if the rest of the album is like it? I'm into electronica / alternative type music (Digitalism, Justice, UNKLE, etc) and, although the album has garnished astounding reviews, wanted to know peoples thoughts on it, as well as what type of music they like (possible help me get an idea of if I too will like it)

I would listen to both these albums online (via amazon/itunes/etc), but I dont have an internet connection at my current residence yet. (im doing this via work...shhh!!!)

I don't get why MIA is so big. I really don't like her music that much. She's like a female, annoying version of The Bug - "London Zoo" (http://drownedinsound.com/releases/13454), which is very good. Even really average review sites like Pitchfork gave a fairly good REVIEW (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/142132-the-bug-london-zoo) of it. I don't think MIA is as interesting, but that's just one man's opinion.

And John Legend is such a twat. Honestly. I got his 1st album from a friend when it first came out, and what I remember is a few good songs (the 1st or 2nd song, perhaps?), but the majority was about how he could pull girls like whoa, and some lame songs about cheating on his girlfriend, losing her, asking for forgiveness, and how he's the man for her. Oh poor John Legend. Next time, don't expect your listeners to feel bad for you just because you knocked up the Denny's waitress, "playa".

And then there was that song that Snoop was on. I tried to overlook the fact that he hasn't been good, or relevant, since 1992-93. I failed. He's just too insincere for me to believe that he has values of any sort.

I like MIA. Get her 1st album as well though. I think it's a bit better. Also Diplo did a remix album based upon songs from the 1st record, that's a bit hit and miss but worth checking out.
