I think everyone who thinks "rich companies" need to simply get taxed more, should really examine the issue for fairness concerns. I'm not clear its NOT fair, but I'm not entirely convinced it IS fair.
Bump for Obama? This thread title ("a New Bump for Obama ?") should be renamed. This has very LITTLE to do with Obama, unless you agree he's a socialist, you yourself are a socialist as well, AND you think taxing profitable companies in the most simplistic sense, is GOOD for America. That's a hard combination to come by, but I don't doubt its out there.

I agree about the title. I expected to see a thread about Obama's poll numbers or something.
I don't even think you're making your point clear, macfan. You seem to be saying something about windfall profits but then you're talking about other companies barely making a profit, and I'm not sure what kind of line you're trying to draw between the two.
Not criticizing, I'm just a little more clarity, particularly in the thread title, would help.

I believe the point was that Obama may receive a "bump" in his poll numbers because people will once again realize that the oil companies are making tremendous profits while the economy continues to flounder, and associate McCain to Bush to big oil.
