Despite the election, Apple seems to be updating the iMacs and Mac Pro's with Intel's latest processors and newer graphics cards on November 4th.
Given the settled November 4th release date for the Macbook Air, it seems only logical to issue a press release and update the rest of their line quietly.
Newly designed iMacs and Mac Pros are a definite no.
Specs:
iMacs
- Montevina 2.6 - 3.2 Ghz
- Nvidia Geforce 9600 and 9800 GT
- Faster DDR3 RAM
Mac Pros
- Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT and possible 2X SLI configuration
- DDR3 RAM

Are you positive about this? because rumors sites would of had it already up or would of gave at least a sense of something before the weekend. Unless Monday is the day when the rumor sites are going to say something.

Not a grain of truth in the Mac Pro prediction, and not backed up by road maps, release dates, historical updates, or anything else.
Your predictions are very general and lack detail. 2.6Ghz-3.2Ghz isn't exactly a tough guess, and the same is true of the DDR3 prediction.

I'm about to buy an iMac, but seeing how the Macbook no longer has a Firewire port and the Macbook Pro only has a single Firewire 800 port I can't help but worry that a new update will come without any Firewire ports at all.
Then again, if I buy an iMac now I might miss out on a faster, more powerful iMac where they haven't made any substantial changes to the design/ports etc.
Should I buy the current version and stay safe, or hope that the newer update will come with everything the current model has and then some?
Decisions, decisions....

Do keep in mind that the day after the introduction of new models that speculation will begin on the following revision which will be introduced at some indeterminate time in the future-- and the next revision will be faster and more attractive... so at some point you just need to start using one because continuing to wait for the next one is neverending! :D

Yeah, but the next revision, where they will radically change the iMac, will be far far into the future. I doubt they will change the design of the iMac anytime soon. But for people who are planning on buying an iMac right now it is probably better to wait. I am planning on buying an iMac right now, but a possible November update is enough to keep me at bay.

Yes, I agree- but I guess my question is has there been any more rumors other than this thread with the OP saying "it seems only logical" for that date? I haven't been seeing them if there have been, but maybe I am still blind from all the kabillion threads on the rumored (and true) MB and MBP redesigns/updates! ;)

No not that date. I highly doubt that date is accurate. But the general consensus seems to be that the iMacs will be updated this month some time.
