Hello,
I have the late 08 MBP (2.5Ghz, 512VRAM, 4GB RAM) and Im running Vista Utlimate 64bits in bootcamp.

I tried to run some games and 3d mark and the results are very nice. The "problem" is that the fans are veeeery loud when the GPU is a bit stressed.

To give you and idea I think it is much louder than when a DVD is spinning fast (during the OS installation for example)

I do understand that the GPU needs to be cooled but I wanst expecting such a noise.

Is this normal ?

According to this software (http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu_caps_viewer/), the GPU is 70C hot at idle and around 85C when running the games.

Hi there!
First thing that comes to mind is the lack of support of any MS 64bit OS from BootCamp (unless they changed it lately).
Maby you need to check the drivers? Where did you get them?

From the OSX DVD. I thought 64bits is officially supported, isn't it ?

Helo,
is there a way to control the fan speed in Vista ?

I was having a look at tools like RivaTuner but this doesn't work because I think that the GPU doesn't have its own fan. I think that there are two fans for everything controlled by the motherboard.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,
Tex

Within OS X (settings supposedly survive a soft restart):

Within Vista? I don't know.

I suspect it will be a lot easier to set the fan speeds in Vista
when someone succeeds in EFI-booting Vista on a Mac. This
may now be possible since Vista now supports EFI natively.
However, there has been little interest in this from the Mac
community, as far as I can tell.
