Palin talks hunting, politics in prank call with notorious Quebec comedy duo
MONTREAL — A Quebec comedy duo notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
In the roughly six-minute telephone interview released Saturday, Palin and the pranksters known as the Masked Avengers discuss politics, pundits, and the perils of hunting with Vice-President Dick Cheney.
"We have such great respect for you, John McCain and I, we love you," Palin is heard to gush to comedian Marc-Antoine Audette, masquerading as Sarkozy.
Palin doesn't seem to realize she's being tricked until Audette tells her at the end of the interview.
"Oh, have we been pranked?" she says. Seconds later, Palin's aide can be heard before the line goes dead.
He identifies French singer and actor Johnny Hallyday as his special adviser to the U.S., singer Stef Carse as Canada's prime minister and Quebec comedian and radio host Richard Z. Sirois as the provincial premier.

Oh my God, she sounds like an idiot right from the get go.
Edit: OMG, you don't even hear her pause when he throws out made up names. You would think she would stop and THINK for a second?

"You know, Governor Palin, I must say I loved the documentary they made on your life. You know, Hustler's 'Nailin Palin?'"
Palin: "Ohh, good, thank you, yes."

Of course it's fake... it's a prank call. If you mean it wasn't really Palin, her people have already issued a statement:
""Gov. Palin received a phone call on Saturday from a French Canadian talk show host claiming to be French President Nicholas Sarkozy," emailed spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt. "Gov. Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy, and other celebrities in being targeted by these pranksters. C'est la vie.""

I guess the blatantly obvious Quebecois accents wouldn't be a giveaway. :D
Anyway, cute. Anyone can get pranked.

FNS: Like we say in France, "on pourrait tuer des bébés phoques aussi" [Translation: We could also kill some baby seals.]
SP: [Giggle] Well I think we could have a lot of fun together as we’re getting work done, we can kill two birds with one stone that way.

I'm sure Palin couldn't even find Quebec on a map, let alone identify the Quebecois accent.
But at least she seemed to take it well when they told her.

You two cracked me up.
The call is interesting. How she was reacting to who she thought was the French President is very telling. She is not even close to being ready.
Good thing Obama will be elected. :D

You'd think she'd be an expert of some kind on the matter. I mean, you can see Canada from Alaska even easier than you can see Russia from Alaska.

it sounds like sound bites pasted together. she was probably pranked somehow but I dont think the radio hosts actually said all that stuff to her.
edit: of course if they did it would just prove even moreso what I was saying in the other thread about her being the worst vp candidate in history:p

I especially liked the bit about the baby seals, which in French sounds remarkably like "babyf*ck". How she stifled a gasp at that point I do not know.

I was just about to post this. It is amazing how little this woman knows about anything politics.
Please don't let her near any office anymore.

Was Palin sabotaged by her campaign staff? How did these guys get past her handlers? If a head of state wanted to call her (and what a friggin' stretch that is), wouldn't they go through McCain?

I dont think that is necessarily so, but it does show you the people she is surrounding herself with...

If a head of state wanted to call her (and what a friggin' stretch that is), wouldn't they go through McCain?Since they have already got through all the Secret Service barriers to reach both Chirac and Sarkozy before now, I would imagine they have the necessary protocols sussed out. I would also imagine that Palin is enough of a delusional dingbat to believe that someone like Sarkozy would call her direct rather than go through McCain. You know what those French are like.

Wow. Painful to listen to, truly painful. Palin is earnest, but totally clueless. Dangerously so. It would be funny if it wasn't true!

This is what politics is all about. It would be totally awesome if they roll her house next.
One thing is sure, Palin is rolling with the whole thing. She just goes with the flow. The phone call, the campaign... everything.

I liked when he said 'I can see Belgium from my house!"
Also the aide was named 'Frank l'Ouvrier' (Frank the worker).
