View Full Version : Blogger recommandation

I am not quite sure it this is the right place for this thread but I hope so.

Currently I am planning to travel once around the world. During that round-the-world trip I am looking for a way how I can keep my friends and family posted where I am, what happend and so on.

The question now is: what is the best way to do so. I guess that I will have access to internet cafes and can update there a webpage or a blog. It must not be a blogger page.

I have already looked at blogger but I can't see how I can post pictures there. But pictures are somehow a must. Even if not a lot.

Someone has any recommendations ? Would appreciate !

well most bloggers, free ones anyway, do not give any free web space.

Assuming the internet cafes have some sort of FTP program (i personally like WSFTP), then you could upload picture directly from your camera, to the computer to your ftp site...

I have a livejournal, thats a pretty simple journal tool for writing comments. I just use simple html to put pictures that are stored on my webhosting ($15 a year so not at all pricey).

I presume you can do this with any blog, although im not sure. Aslong as you have use of or can install an ftp program you'll be fine with this sort of system.

The AOL blogging tool allows you to upload pictures.

Another route would be to use .mac--they have free iBlog software, and since you'd be hosting on your own space, there'd be no problem with pictures.

The more extreme version would be get your own web hosting service and install server-based blogging software such as moveable type. I run a bloglike site that uses Drupal, which is a very powerful blogging/community organization tool. But it takes quite some time to figure out how it works--may not be your best option.

Thanks for your comments so far. I have to mention that I have only very little knowledge about creating webpages or anything in that area.

Maybe .mac is an interesting option. Can I upload from any PC to my .mac account or do I need a Mac ?
