ive heard that my iBook 500 can be upgraded from a 500/66 to a 600/100

is this true?

has anyone been brave enough to attempt this?

is it a stupid thing to try and take on/ can people be hired for this kind of thing?

would it work with 10.3 installed?

any hints/tips warnings, and links apreaciated

thanks for any help

The one thing I can say is watch out for heat issues. Plastic can melt!

There ate two comprehensive online guides for this: xlr8yourmac (http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/ibook_2001_overclock/ibook_2001_overclock.html) and Carl and Stan's (http://norum.homeunix.net/~carl/mods/overclock/) page. I haven't hacked up my iBook 500 yet, but successfully overclocking my G4/400 has given me some confidence. Instead of desoldering and soldering resistors, it's easier to cut traces with a scalpel blade and draw in connections with a conductive pen. The hardest thing about the iBook mod seems to be taking the damn thing apart!
