it seems that a reckless magnifier has found (among other things) an image of Dilbert in a chip:

I once took some pictures of sausage (that autofluoresces) on the microscope.

I always "sign" my circuit boards with a : :)
I did the same to an analog chip I designed many years ago. It actually was useful, a batch of chips failed. Examining under a electron microscope, we could see the the final metal wasn't completely etched. The Happy face was an enclosed item, so it limited the etchants actions.
So it's not simply "art" it actually has a valid reason for being there !
