View Full Version : Crucial Memory Question (PowerBook G4)

Hi guys,

I own a PowerBook G4. I want to upgrade the RAM inside because my PB has the dreaded lower memory slot failure. :( So I want to buy a 1GB and max out the RAM on the upper slot. I want to go with crucial memory. Can someone explain the difference between these 2 chips? They have the EXACT same specs. Please clue me in on the difference. Thanks! :apple:

Spec for spec, there is no difference. The PPC Macs are said to be more picky when it comes to using RAM. Because of that, Crucial sales RAM that is guaranteed to work in those systems. They may fall in within closer tolerances then their regular RAM, but that is something Crucial would have to chime in on.

In reality the $50 stick will probably work without a problem. I bought a stick of Kingston RAM off the shelve of CompUSA before they closed last Christmas and it worked fine in my PowerBook. It's not specific Mac RAM, but still works great.
