timed div swap

i've noticed a lot of sites that have divs that swap on timed intervals, and some (like the gallery of macbooks and mbp's) that you click on to reveal a different div.

how do i do those? i'm a graphic designer with a modest amount of html and coding skills, so i'm still trying to develop more in the way of coding and backend stuff for web.

i use dreamweaver cs4.

Most of them are doing so through the various JavaScript libraries/frameworks, e.g., Scriptaculous, jQuery, MooTools, YUI, etc. There's plenty of tutorials out there for doing it.
