Combo drive in iBook won't burn

I've been having some trouble with my iBook's combo drive recently, sometimes it seems to burn discs without any trouble and other times it refuses, taking my disc with it.

I'm thinking its some sort of hardware problem since all of the various software I've used to burn have come up with the same result. I'm sick of making coasters with this thing, please help!

Before anyone asks, I do believe its still under warranty but that's a last resort option since I don't really want to travel all the way to Best Buy where I got it to fix the damn thing.

have you tried using higher quality CDR's or lowering the burn speed?

I've tried different discs, plus the ones I used are of fairly high quality, haven't tried a lower speed though....

Anyhoo, I just did a reinstall due to the desire for a different partitioning scheme, have't tried burning anything yet....
