In these tough economic times, a lot of us are cutting back. So I thought it might be neat to have a thread for those of us who have resisted the temptation to buy something (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=591242). Post a picture of (or just describe) the item you really wanted but decided NOT to buy.
I'll start:

The thread title had me thinking of a stolen items thread.

Just got back from vacation, but before I left I had to resist the urge to buy a new digital camera. Instead, I just borrowed an older model from a friend. I love the new Nikon Coolpix S60. Maybe someday. :(

I didn't exactly "not buy it". I have put it off, though – at least until I feel I can get the accessories too without a bad taste in my mouth:

New ski boots, Head Raptors.
Had unexpected, complicated surgeries (thankfully successful) to pay for for one of my dogs and very sadly the final visit to the vet for our beloved greyhound. She was a sweet little girl.
Well I guess I'll be the first to start high (well low) rolling...

The same for me on most nights that I don't work. When I do work however it is much cheaper for me to eat there. I can get a steak and all you can eat salad bar for about 5.00!
I really want a 22" HP monitor, but I just can't seem to put the money up for it. It's one of those Needs vrs Wants things. My 19" is doing just fine for me...

If you cannot afford a new one, step down to a 993 or even a 996 since those are going down in price.

At the begining of the year the HR manager at work was selling her 2002 318i BMW. It was loaded with extras (luxury package, sport package, ...). I was very close to buying it, even drove it a couple of times - but finally came to my senses and realized that there were better ways to spend the money.

My mate just bought a brand new Carrera S with a few accessories for £80,000. He's obviously not feeling the crunch...

I could purchase one of those from Karama (A district in Dubai) for the equivalent of $20. It'd be an exceedingly good copy, too :p

Wanted, but didn't get an iMac. Instead will pay bills and settle on a larger hard drive for my Macbook. :D

Wanted a 3ghz iMac, but when I saw the near-enough-speed 2.8ghz MBPro, I figured a laptop could be a nice desktop replacement.
Couldn't afford adding the LCD Cinema Display (http://www.apple.com/displays/) to go with it, though, nor a certain upgrade (http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/) to Logic Express, nor this fun little toy (http://www.apple.com/shake/).
