"cannot connect to itunes store"

I finaly updated my 1st gen 8gb ipod touch (the $9.99 software) SO I could use the app store. But when I go to use the app store or itunes store a screen pops up and says "cannot connect to itunes store" Any help? Thanks

Happened to me tonight but everything else was ok. I figured it was on apples end. Only lasted about an hour then connected ok.

Yes. It started to work today, maybe its just on apple's end.
