ok. I am making a movie of pictures and videos. I am making it for a friend's son's football team. My question is do you know one or two upbeat songs that aren't too corny like walking on sunshine (alhough it is an upbeat song, it is for a football team) and has clean lyrics.

Thanks

Make Your Own Kind of Music by The Mamas and the Papas
Baba O'Riley by The Who (not really up beat as such but a fantastic song)
Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi
Surfin' USM by Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine

Just a few I found looking through my music collection only got up to F though.

"Woo Hoo" by Blur Older song that I find pretty upbeat and fits a football team.

"What I am made of" Crush 40

"Touch" by Stan Bush (Transformers the Movie (1984)
"Dare" by Stan Bush (Transformers the Movie (1984)

"Over My Head" by Lit

Of that list above personally I think the 2 by Stan Bush would fit what you are looking for the best. Very clean lyrics and I think it would work the best.

I find movie sound tracks are a great place to look for songs that fit. Pull from older songs you be amazed at what you can find. I hope that helps. Please let us know what songs you end up using.

For me it would have to be Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros, one of the most beautiful & uplifting songs I've ever heard.

A few others:
Don't Stop Believing - Journey
Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve
Bellissima - DJ Quicksilver
Mr Brightside - The Killers

Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros is a great suggestion. Although jumping in puddles might be a hard analogy to put into an inspirational narration.

Or how about Uncle Ernie by The Who?:D

That would be Song 2.

Mercury Rev have some pretty jolly, beautifully melodic songs. Very similar to Sigur Ros. You should probably check the Ros' chaps out first though :)

I'd vote for Hoppipolla as well.

I've used Kasabian - Shoot The Runner and Modest Mouse - Float On for stuff like this. They work well.

In fact, definitely Kasabian.

All great suggestions bar The Verve. You have listened to the lyrics of that "uplifting" song haven't you?

"Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life
Trying to make ends meet, trying to find some money then you die"

Yep that's some uplifting positive music right there for ya ;)

"It just - sex and violence, melody and silence"

Great song though!

ELO - Mr. Blue Sky
Queen - Don't stop me now
...before I forget.

Great song though!I agree that the lyrics don't classify as uplifting but the first 1:06 of strings, (before the lyrics kick in,) is definitely up there.

A few more that I like to listen to if I'm not feeling 100%:

Give It Away by Deepest Blue
What Else Is There? (Thin White Duke Remix) by Royksopp
Fix You by Coldplay

As an aside, Hoppipolla was used in the trailers for Planet Earth shown on the BBC - one of the best bits of setting music to film I've ever seen. For some reason there's no links on YouTube, but here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH8Hi_prdQs) what appears to be a lq version of a spanish channel using the same trailer and here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nrorpllNBw) a longer version with the same idea.

I should go fix that in my itunes library. But considering I first put that song on my computer I think back when I was in Jr (over 10 years ago) the name was wrong then.

I love the song in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUw8aNefza0

(the video's a Christmas-dinner timelapse, not a rickroll, promise!)

I'm trying to think of something that would suit a sports video... what about Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen? Very upbeat, and I think the lyrics would actually suit the subject?

Please don't use Don't Stop Believing. Awesome song, I'll admit, but much overdone these days, especially for sports events...

The Distance by Cake
Almost any Matisyahu song
Island in the Sun by Weezer
Or maybe some White Stripes songs? (none in particular come to mind ATM)

But I do like Rodimus' suggestions too (just cause those songs always remind me of Transformers The Movie)

Ah forgot about They Might Be Giants (they rock), thought about Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk but thought someone might consider it "sexual" or something

If this is for some tough sports players, why not play "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood & the Destroyers.

Island in the Sun by Weezer

That song always seemed a little sad for me, the music alone makes me imagine 2 people apart and the lyrics make it sound like someone is sick. But this was going back some years when I was a wee kid :o

It sounds upbeat, and its title is appropriate to what you want to use the song for. ;)
